How to reuse common household items at home to decorate, when there is no money in the budget.
No money in the budget to decorate this Spring, use household objects around the home and create a new life from unused items.
Many Americans are chosing to recycle and upcycle household items to sell, save and decorate their home. Etsy is a great site to find local artisans and craft people doing this on their online shops.
Every household has plumbing pipes either pvc or iron pipes and wood in their garages. Finding items that can be reused to create cool looking shelves. HGTV and DIY offers great instructions on how to create these shelves and even book cases from these items.
Have some bed sheets that haven't been used in awhile, consider making them into curtains, add a lining to the back of the sheet and use fabric paint along with a stencil to change a solid color bedsheet.
Have some vintage curtains that have a funky design consider making a slipcover for your headboard. Now, there is a trend to slipcover head boards. This is a good option if the furniture should not be altered permanently due to value. If the fabric is retro, it is a cool focal point to any room and it can be added to create a unique different furniture piece. There are sites online that offer instruction on how to make these head board slipcovers, on HGTV there was a monogram slipcover made. There are so many options, make a search on any search engine, as Google and will find many resources such as craft sites that have blogs with sewing projects; such as Joann.com and fabrics.com.
Have some solid color placemats, use them to make a valance for a small bathroom window, just sew them together add some trim around the edges.
Have an Amercian flag around the home consider taking the flag and making a truly unique one of a kind item. The flag is not only beautiful , its a work of art. It stands for liberty, justice and freedom, what better way to display it on a huge canvas board or on a frame on a wall. Depending on the size of the flag, use it to make a pillow on the sofa or use the flag to upholster a vintage chair.
There are so many options available, some of these projects require some sewing skills but if you don't sew there are many bonding adhesives now being used to allow for minimal or no sewing in these projects.
There are many things around the home that can be reused , such as vintage or broken china, the pieces can be used as a mosaic on a tabletop or on a planter.
There are times looking around the closet or the garage, an item may be found that is unique and had been forgotten. Cleaning it, and bringing that same item back to life with a coat of paint can cheer up any decor in an instant.
The best way to change your decor with no money is simply to declutter and really clean up a room. Sometimes, the decor may be overwhelmed by having too many items cluttering a home. A good cleaning and eliminating these items and placing them in different rooms can make a world of difference. It will cause a sense of starting anew in time for Spring and the Summer.
There are many ideas to brainstorm and to find to decorate a room with no money, just have to be creative with items we already have at our home.
